Method

  1. 1.Add honey to a preheated mug.
  2. 2.Pour in a small amount of hot water and stir to dissolve the honey.
  3. 3.Add whiskey and lemon juice.
  4. 4.Top with remaining hot water and stir.
  5. 5.Garnish with a lemon wheel studded with cloves and a cinnamon stick.

Notes

  • The water should be hot but not boiling — around 175°F. Boiling water will make the drink harsh.
  • Bourbon gives a sweeter, rounder toddy; Scotch gives a smokier, more complex one.
